Cheerio friends and happy Friday! I can’t believe spring break is over. We had just the best week with our bookends in London. To have our oldest and our youngest together was really special and to see their dynamic was so much fun. There were so many things I learned. For example, they both do Wordle every day. Jimmy always starts with the word “cream” because according to him, that word always has letters he can use and some day it will have to be that word. I don’t know why I thought him sharing this with Grace was so cute. I guess it’s because it probably wouldn’t have come up had they not been forced to spend so much time together with their old folks last week. If you can travel with your kids…do it! There is nothing better!
I’m working on a recap of our week since it sounds like a lot of you are heading to London later this spring. But until then, I thought it would be fun to do a roundup of our London trip MVPs for our Friday favorites.
Grace’s red jacket: Our London trip could be summed up with one piece of clothing–Grace’s new red coat. I brought this for her birthday. I made her pose in front of every iconic London monument in her darling jacket and every picture was made that much cuter. (It’s a bit oversized. Grace is wearing a size 4.)
The perfect white tee: I have been on the hunt and I found it. This $42 Madewell shirt is awesome–not cropped and not see-through. This is one to get! (I wear a medium.)
Apple maps to navigate London: We taught my husband last week that you can get around London on the Metro using the maps app on your phone. It’s such a game changer. We only cabbed it twice last week–otherwise we zipped around on the Metro.
Cute sneaks: If we weren’t on the Metro, we were walking! I think we averaged about 20,000 steps each day. I wore these Adidas sneakers the whole time–the only shoes I wore for the trip. (Order a 1/2 size smaller than your typical size.)
Best white jeans: These are the best of the best! I have never had white jeans that were more comfy and more flattering than these! And they’re aren’t see through at all. Run true-to-size.
Amazing eye cream: Right before we left, my order of InnBeauty’s new Extreme Eye Cream arrived–just in the nick of time. It’s as awesome as the Extreme Cream that has become my go-to moisturizer under my makeup. My skin takes such a beating when I fly, but this one-two punch from InnBeauty saved me.
Westman Atelier concealer: I was so bummed to miss the Westman Atelier workshop that was hosted by The Lake Forest Shop earlier this month. The Lake Forest Shop now offers this line in store and can help you color match. I have read so much about Westman’s Vital Skincare Brightening Concealer With Hyaluronic Acid that I had to get it. It’s one of those products that does two jobs at once–hydrates while it’s covering those trouble spots. So far, I love it!
Dibs Beauty GlowTour Duo Shimmering Blush + Contour Stick in Starlit: This is my favorite blush right now. It’s another two-for-one, great for travel, as it has a contour stick on one side and a blush on the other. This color is a pretty coral with a little shimmer in it.
Travel cosmetic cases: I bought these cases on Amazon and they were terrific. I loved that they were more structured and forced me to only take what I absolutely needed. I also loved that I could see thru them. They were great quality for the price.
Trench coat: I’ve talked so much about this crazy trench coat but I wore it all week in London and it was perfect. I loved the length and the hood. A closet staple. (I bought an 8, a little oversized to wear over layers easily.)
Classic crossbody: I bought this bag in black right before I left for London because I wanted a crossbody that wasn’t heavy. I loved that this doubles as a top-handle bag (you can remove the crossbody strap), so that it could be a little dressier for the evenings. This was a 10/10 and comes in this beautiful cream color, too! It even fit into my tote bag easily when we had to consolidate our carryons for the plane.
Beauty in the Broken Places: My friend Becky told me I should read this memoir by Alison Pataki and I’m so glad that I did. I read the whole book on the plane home yesterday. It’s a heartbreaking and heart warming story with Chicago and Lake Forest roots. A must read if you’ve loved her historical fiction (The Magnificent Lives of Marjories Post, Sisi, Finding Margaret Fuller, etc.)…or even if you haven’t. It’s just beautiful.
That’s all I can think of for now. I hope that you had a wonderful spring break! Good luck easing back into reality.

Thanks for the tee shirt recommendation! I’ve been on a similar hunt, and just bought your Madewell discovery from your link.
I hope you like it! Let me know what you think!
