New Upstairs Carpet Reveal

Are you one of those goal setters at the beginning of the year where you make a list of all you hope to accomplish? I always make a list of personal goals as well as a loooong list of home projects that I’d like to finish. For the last several years, replacing our upstairs carpet was on the top of my list.

Last week, we finally did it. We replaced the carpet in the upstairs of our house and installed a new runner on the stairs. I can’t even tell you how this just freshened everything up. If you’re local and looking to for a flooring vendor, we had a great experience with Carpet Central & Highwood Flooring in Highland Park. We had a pretty strict budget and I knew exactly what I was looking for and I didn’t really want to budge from that. Mike from Carpet Central really worked with us and I couldn’t be happier with how things turned out.

I’m not going to lie. Replacing wall-to-wall carpet is kind of a big undertaking. We got four different estimates to do the work which takes time, and then getting the space ready for the install takes some planning. The installers took care of moving all of the big pieces like dressers and beds, but we needed to remove anything small from the rooms like end tables and lamps. We also had to clear out all of the closets so the installers could get in there, too. It was all worth it, but you’ll want to make sure you have a free day or two on either side of having carpet replaced.

I promise to post some better pictures on Instagram stories this week so you can get a closer look, but until then–here’s a quick peek at the finished results.

It looks beautiful. The only place we have wall to wall carpet is in our bedroom and it’s needs replacing. The task seems daunting. Seeing your space makes me think we should just pull the trigger and get it done.

Pat, I was so nervous about taking this project on, but it ended up only being a couple of days of disruption: one day to unload the room, one day for the install, and one day to put everything away. It’s worth it!
