A Few Friday Faves

Happy first week of March! The sunshine changed everything this week and made it feel like spring is a real possibility. Here’s hoping! Before I head out to South Bend to pick up my Domers for spring break, I wanted to share a few of my favorites from this week.

Lake Forest Preservation Foundation Unveils Its First College Scholarship: For the first time ever, the Lake Forest Preservation Foundation is giving a $1000 scholarship to the graduating Lake Forest High School senior who best visually presents a message demonstrating how historic preservation is an important part of a Lake Forest childhood. More than one scholarship winner is possible! Applications are due Monday, March 16. Celebrate International Women’s Day with lululemon Market Square: lululemon is pulling out all of the stops with their local ambassadors to celebrate International Women’s Day this weekend. Katie Ford will be hosting a floral workshop tomorrow (Saturday) March 7 from 12-1 p.m. at lululemon Market Square and Kelsey Stoll will be leading a special yoga class in Forever Om’s Vernon Hills studio from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 8. Scan the QR code in this image for all ticket information.

Trina Turk, Lip Gloss, and Spring Jewelry at The Lake Forest Shop on Thursday, March 12: The Lake Forest Shop was nice enough to ask Jen Bobay (founder of Jar Bar Makeup) and I to help them kick off spring their Trina Turk Trunk Show this Thursday, March 12, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. As an added bonus, my very fabulous friend and jewelry maker Nora Tonn will be joining us with all of her fun pieces for the warmer weather. Nora hasn’t done a show in Lake Forest since the St. Mary’s Guild hosted its last Christmas Prelude, so we are long overdue for her well-priced, on-trend, beaded bracelets and necklaces. Please stop by the shop and bring a friend! (I’ll be doing a bigger blog post about Nora and her friend and colleague Amy Hartigan and her beautiful artwork early next week.)

Before I let you go, here are some other things I’m obsessed with this week:

  • Currently watching: Last Sunday, 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days premiered its latest season on TLC. This is “must-see” television if I’ve ever watched it. In a nutshell, this show chronicles Americans who fall in love with people overseas who they may then apply for a K1 Visa so that they can come to the United States and be married. The production and storytelling is done in such a way that you can’t help rooting for these people that love will conquer all!
  • Currently reading: Our March book pick is American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. I’ve started it and I’m hooked. This might not be the light spring break read you are looking for, but I know it will be a book that you will be happy you read.
  • Currently listening to: Bad On Paper is hands down one of my favorite podcasts. If you love books and all things girly, this is the podcast for you! This week they featured Tara Foley, founder of Follain, who masterfully broke down what clean beauty is all about. Loved it and learned so much!

Happy happy Friday!
