It feels like it’s been confession week here on my blog. Pillow fluffing, list making, and mopping…oh my! But today I’m turning my attention to one of my most favorite obsessions: eye creams. (I scream for eye creams!)I remember way back when I turned 30, the first things that began to show my age were my eyes. I absolutely believe that “eyes are the windows to the soul” and they seem to show everything. In those years, I didn’t sleep because my house was full of toddlers. Today, I don’t sleep because my house is filled with teenagers!I know that when I look better, I feel better. I have tried lots of different lotions and potions trying to avoid remedies that involve needles and I’m including my absolute favorites here. Realizing we all have different price points, my list includes what I have found to be the most effective at a few different cost levels.La Mer: The Eye Concentrate It probably comes as no surprise that La Mer‘s Eye Concentrate is my favorite. It’s light, gel texture is great under makeup and has truly reduced the wrinkles and circles I’m fighting. A little also goes along way in hydrating the sensitive areas under your eyes. The only reservation I have about this incredible product is its price. Occasionally if I have a few Nordstrom notes burning holes in my wallet or Bluemercury is having a special, I will make the splurge. La Mer’s Eye Concentrate is truly an example of you get what you pay for. The brand lives up to its hype.Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster Advanced Repair Retinol Eye CreamTrish McEvoy has been my go-to brand for makeup for the last 10 years. I was immediately in love when I realized her products come in a planner! Every now and then when Bluemercury will have a show with Trish, I’ve raced over there to have them do my makeup and they often begin with their skincare. On one recent visit, Magda (the Trish expert at Lake Forest’s Bluemercury) treated me to the Beauty Booster Advance Repair Retinol Eye Cream. When used in conjunction with the Booster Oil, it was like having an instant eye lift. The tightening and brightening were almost immediate. Rumor has it it that Trish is coming out with an updated version of this product where the Booster Oil won’t be necessary. I will definitely be on the lookout for this.
In my opinion, Bluemercury’s store brand’s m-61 Hydraboost Eye Cream, created by Bluemercury founder Marla Beck, is the best product at the best value. It goes on very light and creamy and is wonderfully hydrating under a concealer. Power-packed peptides strengthen the eye area and reduce the appearance of fine lines, under-eye circles, and puffiness.
Rodan + Fields Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex and Multi-Function Eye CreamWhen my sweet friend and fellow yogi Paula found out that I have a thing for eye creams, she told me that I needed to check out a brand she has long represented called Rodan + Fields. And if you saw what a beauty Paula is even after an hour of sweaty hot yoga, you would know why I gave them a chance.Rodan + Fields has two different eye products that two different things. Paula recommended using them together. The Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex focuses on the dullness and dark circles under eyes and wakes up that tired look. I use this in the morning under my makeup. Then at night, I use the Multi-Function Eye Cream that fights my wrinkles when I sleep. In a nutshell, this is my take on the latest and greatest eye creams. Our eyes don’t have to give away our ages… or our secrets.xo
