This Week’s Favorites

Happy weekend! It’s extra happy over here for a couple of reasons today. Numero uno–and the biggest of all–is that our sweet Grace is home from Madrid. She has had the most amazing year–one of those life-changing, trajectory-setting kind of years. But I’m so happy she’s going to hang with us for the summer. I can’t wait to hear all of her stories, do all of her laundry, and feed her all of her favorite things.

The second happy thing today is that I pulled the trigger on something my Annie and I have been talking about for two years, maybe even longer. We are going to Greece! When our kids turn 16, instead of having a party, we take them on a trip. While we never anticipated that one of our kids would ask to take their birthday trip out of the country, we’re not that really that surprised that Annie did! To be honest, I never thought we would be able to pull this off. But with a little negotiating (with my husband and my other kids) and the rekindling of some travel writing relationships, we are leaving on July 11. Our trip will be short, but will hopefully give both of us a taste of that part of the world. We’ll land in Athens and spend a day there, and then visit Paros, Mykonos, and Santorini. If there are places to see, or things we have to do on these islands, please feel free to send them our way!

And on that note, here are a few more favorites (and a not-so-favorites) from last week.

And Just Like That, Season 2: I’m afraid to ask, did you watch? HBO Max (or just Max) dropped two episodes of the Sex & The City sequel yesterday. I’m not going to give any spoilers, but I didn’t think it was veery good. For some reason, I find myself being drawn to the new characters and cringing at the storylines of the old ones. I’m hopeful that this series will find its stride, but in my opinion–they aren’t there yet.

4th of July style: I can hardly believe that the 4th of July is 10 days away. In case you need a little outfit inspiration, I rounded up a few cute pieces and many of them are on sale.

Scamanda:” Just when you think you’ve heard it all comes another true crime story that blows that theory right out of the water. This podcast, Scamanda, takes a closer look at a young woman who convinces just about everyone that she has cancer, in order to gain the support–financial and otherwise–of anyone who would give it. The story is told very well (even if it has maybe been drawn out a little bit.) New episodes drop on Mondays!

Our trip to Cabo: It’s been months since we got home, but I finally did a recap of our most recent trip to Cabo. File this away for the next time you’re looking for a warm weather vacation. I tell you where we stayed and everywhere we ate. After you read this story, you’ll know how much we love it there!

Mojito mocktail recipe: A very good friend shared this mocktail recipe with me yesterday along with the mint simple syrup that she made from the mint she grew in her garden (here is the recipe for that!). It is such a treat and so refreshing. It’s the perfect drink to have this weekend!

Enjoy the sunshine!

I love this tradition! We do it for HS and college graduations. The graduate gets to choose. Just returned from Ireland for our college graduates trip. Our youngest is asking for Greece and Rome in 2 years so I can’t wait to hear about your trip.

Amazing! Great minds. I just don’t think you can beat the one-on-one time with our kids in a special place. We need to get together so I can hear about Ireland!
