Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Can you believe we’re already in the thick of college move-ins? Last weekend we got Leo settled into his apartment, and this Sunday we’ll be taking Annie back for her junior year. How did summer fly by so fast? I’m just grateful we still get a few sweet days of August before fall fully takes over.

This morning at my favorite strength class at Bird Barre, our teacher Kate asked the parents if we notice a difference in how our daughters versus sons stay in touch once they’re away. In my house, it’s not a boy/girl thing at all—it’s totally personality-driven. I’m a big texter, and thankfully most of my kids keep me updated that way. Eddie, though, is our outlier—he’s the only one who really loves a good phone call. Annie has nicknamed him our “D1 yapper,” which feels very on brand. But honestly? Every family needs at least one Eddie—the one who keeps the whole crew in the loop.

And speaking of keeping in the loop—let’s talk favorites! Here are a few things making me smile (and survive) this week.

Madewell does it again!
I shared these two blouses earlier this week (this one and this one), but they’re so good they’re worth mentioning again. The one I’m wearing above can even pass as Lake Forest High School spirit wear! We have a football scrimmage tonight, and I’ll be showing up “football mom chic” in this little number.

Game day charm bracelets
We definitely have football on the brain over here, so when I saw this Charleston jewelry designer share her adorable Game Day charm bracelets, I knew I had to include them. Such a fun way to show team spirit without going full face paint.

Goddess and the Baker
Did you see that Goddess and the Baker is coming to Wilmette? It’s taking over the old Corner Bakery in Edens Plaza. This Chicago favorite is famous for its breakfasts, sandwiches, salads, baked goods, and over-the-top coffee drinks. They’re expected to open this fall—and in my opinion, that opening can’t come soon enough.

Great layering pieces under $50
I partnered with Quince last week to share three of my favorite fall sweaters, all less than $50: this one, this one, and this one. I’m planning to pack them for the river cruise my sisters and I are taking with my parents in two weeks. The forecast is calling for 50s and 60s—perfect sweater weather! (For reference: I’m wearing a medium in the cashmere and a small in the cotton.)

Two Judgey Girls
I am a big Bravo fan, and as if the Housewives shows I watch each week weren’t enough, I also need a podcast to keep the obsession alive. I’ve listened to Two Judgey Girls for years, and it just keeps getting better. Co-host Mary is on maternity leave, but before she left, she and Courtney recorded several “flashback” episodes on classic seasons that are giving me life. It’s hilarious to revisit shows from 10 years ago with fresh commentary. Perfect walking/listening material!

Speaking of those steps…
My friend Becky roped me into a StepBet challenge, and it’s been surprisingly motivating. You wager a little money, set your step goals, and try to stay in the game until the end. If you miss your goals, you’re out. While the payout at the end of August won’t be much (Becky says we’re on track to make about $3), the accountability has been gold. I can’t believe how much more intentional I’ve been about getting my steps in when I know someone’s watching. If you need a little help building momentum, this is a great tool!

That’s all I have for this week! Have a great weekend!
