Hello friends! Happy Saturday—and how is it August already?!
Our house has been extra quiet this week with Jimmy up at Camp Hope, but I picked him up yesterday and brought him home (barely awake, but home!). Despite being exhausted, he’s already saying he’d go back next year. Last night after their awards ceremony, Jimmy said his camper just cried and cried. Being 17 and a little stunned by all of the emotion, he wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. I told him that was his sign—he did a good job. His camper just wasn’t ready to say goodbye.
The ride home from camp is always my favorite. It’s quiet, but there’s always at least one story that fills me up. Today, Jimmy said he was most excited to not have to “worry about someone else” for a while. I laughed out loud. Welcome to motherhood, Jimmy!
With my baby back in the nest, I have a fun list of things to share with you. Let’s go!
Boden’s Super Sale: My trip with my parents and sisters is coming up next month, I’m starting to really think about what I’m going to bring. We’re taking a river cruise that begins in Amsterdam and the temperatures are looking like they will be in the 60s, so…it’s looking like lots of layers–my favorite! Boden’s Super Sale is happening this weekend with 60% off a huge selection of items. I picked up this raincoat today. But how cute is this jacket or this one (I’m literally dying at how cute this one is!). There is so much on sale. Definitely take a look!
Speaking of the cruise with my parents and sisters: I’m packing for 11 days in a carryon. I know I can do it, but I’m definitely looking for pieces I can style in a few different ways. I picked up this Madewell vest and it fits the bill. Thinking I can wear this alone, with a blouse, under a blazer or over a dress. Love!
Connection Cards: Irena Spegnar, founder of a company called The Boonly, sent me these Connection Cards, that have a series of meaningful conversation starters. Spegnar designed her company for people “who want to spark curiosity, reflection, and joy into their lives.” I’m totally packing these for my trip!
Weezie Necklaces: My friend Katie Brickman continues to inspire me with all of her creativity and the necklaces she’s now making are just the pop of color we call need. I’m layering the light pink and light green–love them. The beads are so light weight, you hardly know you’re wearing them!
Woven flats: Have you even owned any shoes from Margaux? This brand is typically a little bit more of an investment, but I find them to be such well-made and incredibly comfortable shoes. They recently sent me this gorgeous pair of woven flats. I’m very late to this trend but happy to say that I think these shoes will be darling for fall.
Gwyneth: Gwyneth Paltrow’s biography came out this week and it hasn’t disappointed. Author Amy Odell, who wrote this book without Paltrow’s cooperation, does a great job of putting the movie star and wellness magnate into context. I’m only about a third of the way through the audio book, but I’m enjoying it so far. If you want the cliff notes version, podcaster Kate Casey did a great interview with the author last week.
Hotel Bennett: I’m nearly finished updating my Charleston post with the new places we tried when we were there last week, most notably our hotel. We stayed at the Hotel Bennett and it was incredible. It is one of those places that does all of the little things to make your stay so special. They even have a sign in the lobby asking men to remove their hats! Suffice it to say, we loved it! More to come on that…I promise!
Adorable fall tote: I’m trying so hard to hold on to summer, but then I see something like this Alex Mill tote and I’m like, fall can come. How cute is this? I’m a total sucker for a monogram! Comes in six different colors.
That’s all I have for this weekend! Enjoy the rest of your week!
