Hi friends. Happy New Year! I haven’t officially had the chance to wish you well this year because I’m still playing catch up from the holidays. They were so good this year—I really couldn’t ask for any more, but I’m always excited to flip the calendar page and start the new year. No matter how old I get, I never get tired of the new-year energy.
So much of the beginning of a new year for me is establishing new habits and rituals, mostly in terms of me making healthy choices. I tend to clean up my eating, re-commit to exercising, and just get myself organized overall—including writing and mailing my holiday thank-you notes. Today, I’m sharing all of my favorite things for starting the new year on the right foot.
Walking coat: This is one of my favorite purchases from last year. I bought this trendy Amazon coat and it is the warmest coat I own. I bought it to wear for my boys’ cold football games and now wear it when I’m trying to hit my 10,000 steps. It’s so much more fun to get outside for these than making them happen on the treadmill. This coat is a winner!
Mittens: These are so cute and so warm.
Hat: Matches the mittens—love!
Water bottle: I totally succumbed to the Stanley craze. This is the best water bottle I own. If you drink two of these during the day, you’ve met your water goal.
Tank: This is my favorite tank from lululemon. Covers my booty and is great for running, walking, and yoga.
Planner: I have been a Day Designer paper planner gal for years. I have always ordered from the company in the past, but saw this skinnier version at Target last month and grabbed it. It has everything I need from a planner and is a lot less bulky. And, it’s under $30!
Notepads: Be a list maker but make it cute! These notepads from Etsy are great for getting all of your to-do’s down on paper.
Thank-you notes: I like to have all of my holiday thank you-notes out by mid-January. There’s nothing like an old-fashioned, handwritten thank-you note. They mean so much to me when I receive one and these notecards from local printer Fiore Press are just the prettiest.
Apple watch: I have a love-hate relationship with mine. Like when I forget to wear my watch to yoga, did that class even happen? But that aside, if you’re goal-oriented like me, this is a great tool.
Leggings: The lululemon align leggings are the absolute best. No others even come close.
Sherpa sweatshirt: This is one of those pieces that can take you from the gym to running errands throughout the day.
Shearling Birkenstocks: I love to wear these cozy shoes to yoga in the winter and for wearing around the house.
Running shoes: I think Hokas are the best running shoes on the market.
Body glow trio: My skin is so dry and I need to get myself spring break ready. I haven’t tried these products before, but I’m going to give them a go.
Rich moisturizing cream: I was totally Instagram-influenced to get this moisturizer and I just love it. It’s incredibly rich, absorbs quickly, and smells incredible.
Yoga mat: I think this is the best mat on the market. I use mine almost every day and I get about a year out of each mat I buy.
Bubbly water: If you’re doing Dry January or just want to try a sparkling water that is better than the rest, Just Bubbles is for you. The company was founded by the husband of one of my favorite bloggers, Courtney Holsworth of A Life From Scratch. You can use her code Courtney20 for 20% off your purchase.
The best protein balls: These are a huge favorite in our house—the kids and I both love them! They are less than 100 calories each and are made with the purest of ingredients. Definitely worth a try if you would like to fill your house with all of the healthy things.
Juice cleanse: Speaking of healthy things, I’m including a post here that I did about juice cleanses. I’m thinking of doing one next week and Forest Greens has the best.
I think that’s all for me today. Happy Friday and have a great weekend.
