Friday Favorites

Hi friends. Happy Friday! Anyone else feel like this has been a long week? My college boys are still home and it’s been wonderful having them here. But I’m not going to lie, I’m not sure how I got anything done when I used to have them home all of the time! My sister and I were talking this morning that our new year reset will officially start next week—when everyone is back to school and our schedules are our own again. But until then, I’m just going to soak in all the crazy.

Even though it’s been a little nutty around here, I did keep a list of a few of my favorite things from the last week. Let’s do this!

  • White Lotus: This was another one of those shows that everyone seemed to be watching so I had to check it out. While my daughter Grace was home, I made her binge-watch both seasons of White Lotus with me. The series was a little slow at the start, but it absolutely sucked us in and we both agreed that Season 2 was 100% better than Season 1. The show is very spicy—meaning that there were several times I told Grace to cover her eyes (where she in turn asked me if I’d like to have her explain anything that my old self surely didn’t understand—ha!). But I loved the setting, the characters, and the twists. It’s not the best series I’ve ever watched, but it was very entertaining. I hope there is a Season 3!

  • Osea Total Body Glow Trio: Even though my 2023 reset isn’t starting until next Tuesday, I have discovered a couple of new things to work into my daily routine. I am determined to get rid of my old lady before spring break. To help, I bought the Total Body Glow Trio from Osea and really like it. It comes with a body oil, body scrub, and a dry brush. Since most of my showers are 10 minutes or less, this is what I’ve been doing. Before I jump in the shower, I dry brush my arms and legs (towards my heart since Gwyneth Paltrow says this is the way to do it). In the shower, I use the scrub on my legs and elbows since they are in the worst shape. Then after I dry off, I use a moisturizer (see below). Then at night before bed, I use the oil. It’s only been a couple of days, but I can already see a difference. Now if I can just stick with it, I may actually be a little glowy by the end of March.

  • Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom Body Creme: My cute mom knows my love for Jo Malone and gifted me the Mimosa & Cardamom Body Creme for my birthday and I just love it. It’s the softest and most feminine scent, not overpowering at all. And I swear the longer that I wear it, the more I love it. This is a total treat but given its great moisturizing properties, you can actually rationalize this as a very necessary purchase.

  • White cardigan: There is something about winter white that I think is so pretty and I had to snag this white cardigan from J.Crew when I saw it. I already have it in tan and red, but this white one might be the best one yet. I think it’s one of those pieces that can take you from day to night because it’s so polished.

  • Eye cream: I feel like I’ve been looking so tired since the holidays and the skin under my eyes is super dry. I just ordered this Ilia eye cream that has a retinol alternative in it that I’m going to give a try and will report back. Ilia has quickly become one of my favorite clean cosmetic brands. The products are well-priced but feel luxurious. I have high hopes for this eye cream.

  • Spare: I’m sure you’re not surprised, but I couldn’t resist downloading this new memoir from Prince Harry. I keep hoping that I’m going to hear something that makes me feel better about their situation, but two chapters in and I’m not so sure that’s going to happen. I just learned this week that Prince Harry has a $35-$40 million dollar four-book deal with Penguin Random House Publishing. What on earth is there left to write about? But I guess if there are people like me who are willing to buy his books, he’ll just keep writing them.

I think that’s it. Enjoy your weekend!
