Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! It has taken me the week to find my footing after an awesome 10 days with a full house. It was so great having the kids home. They were happy to be with each other and it was so much fun to have their friends stop by. I really wonder how I ever got anything accomplished when they were all living here. I think the difference is that I was so busy “doing” in those days. Now when they’re around, I try to pause the things that get in the way of just being with them.

I have lots to share with you in this week’s Friday Favorites so let’s get to it!

Three delicious summer salads: We did some of the best cooking we’ve done all summer last week. These salads were definite highlights–easy to make and full of flavor! You must add these to your to-do list!

Greek-yogurt pizza dough: It sounds weird, but it was so good! Don’t knock it until you try it. Annie had her friends over the week to make dinner and they made this recipe for the pizza dough. Honestly, I couldn’t tell the difference between this and a less-healthy recipe.

Summer sparkle: Do you remember the jewelry maker Lisi Lerch? I feel like there was a time I saw her pieces everywhere. They recently sent me a care package with this bracelet and these earrings and I remember why I loved them! Great costume pieces at even better prices. Lisi Lerch is also having an incredible summer sale right now.

An elevated flip flop: I refuse to wear real shoes this summer–it’s flip-flops or bust! These $25 cuties from Target have become a summer staple for me.

Podcast about why messes can be triggering: I saw this podcast being shared on Instagram and I had to listen to it immediately! At 54, I’m still trying to figure out why I am the way I am. The featured psychologist offered some scientific reasons for why I’m a little nuts when it comes to cleaning and organizing. If you identify with this, this podcast is worth a listen.

Makeup for us slightly older gals: When I turned 50, I realized I needed different makeup from what my daughters wear. I was so excited to hear about Sarah Creal Beauty, a cosmetics and skincare line that has been formulate for women over 40. I tried a bunch of their products and wrote a little review of each. Have you tried these yet?

Plaza del Lago updates and openings: Are you following all of the exciting happenings taking place at Plaza del Lago in Wilmette? Plaza del Lago is adding 13 new businesses as part of its transformation–including Hill House Home, Veronica Beard, and Hermes. Space 519, an innovative dining space that originated on the Gold Coast is coming, as well. This week, Jenni Kayne and James Perse opened. My friend Katie Cassman is doing a great job keeping everyone in the know. Give her a follow if you haven’t already.

My favorite Amazon items for Prime Days: Today is the last day of Amazon Prime Days. Here’s the little roundup I did of things I have and love. It’s also a great time to shop for your college student. Here is my tried-and-true packing list.

Another low-cal sweet treat: My daughter Annie made the mistake of telling me about Drizzilicous, a crunchy snack made with whole grains, quinoa, chia, and flax. You can eat 21 pieces for 90 calories! I’ve seen them sold at Sunset and Target. So far, we’ve liked the Cookies’n’Cream and S’mores flavors the best.

All right, friends. That’s all I have for this week! Have a great weekend!
