Friday Favorites on a Sunday

Happy Sunday, friends! I’m so happy to be sitting down tonight to write my Friday Favorites…even if it is on a Sunday. January was such a such tough month for so many. I’m hoping this little roundup can bring a little lightness to your upcoming week.

My new favorite TikTok account: If you aren’t following @cocopowell1 on TikTok, you aren’t living! Coco is the beautiful mother of my friend Katie. Katie posts brief interviews with her mom almost every day and they are the sweetest, funniest, best little insights into fashion, beauty, and life. I know it’s kind of a controversial thing to be on TikTok, but this app was saved so we could all have a little Coco in our lives.

Need a retinal cream? I’m probably the last person on earth to add a retinal to my skincare routine, but I was at the dermatologist this week and she convinced me it was time. I have a little sun spot on my face that we’re keeping an eye on and she said that a retinal cream could go a long way to making sure it doesn’t turn into something. The derm suggested I start using this gentle retinal cream–Avene RetrinAL .01 Intensive Cream–every other night until I build up a tolerance to it and am ready for something stronger. I’ll keep you posted on how this goes.

New wellness app: My friend Rebecca Asfour, owner of Lake Forest’s Bird Barre studio, launched a new wellness app today–Bird Barre Online! Rebecca has curated all of her favorite workouts, recipes, and meditations into one beautiful place that women can have with them wherever they are. The app is stunning!

Cutest cardigan: While the rest of the fashion world is telling us we need to be wearing neutrals this winter, Boden has brought out all of the color. This is my favorite jacket of the early spring drop they made last week, but here are all of the other things that caught my eye.

A pretty glow: I recently discovered this incredible Iconic Underglow Blurring Primer. After I moisturize, I put this on and it gives a little extra moisture plus the most subtle glow that shines under my makeup. It isn’t sticky at all. I have loved this and will be rebuying soon! I also recently shared my secret to battling dry winter skin in this reel.

Great memoir if you have a sport-loving boy: Last month, I took Jimmy to Marquette for a college visit. I wanted something “Jimmy appropriate” for our ride to Milwaukee, so I downloaded Kirk Herbstreit’s memoir from two years ago–Out of the Pocket: Football, Fatherhood, and College GameDay Saturdays. The boys know Kirk as the host of College Game Day on ESPN on Saturday mornings. This memoir is EXCELLENT! It’s so wholesome. We loved the stories about his Ohio State football career and all of his ups and downs as a high school student navigating the path to play college football. For obvious reasons, I loved it and I loved being able to expose Jimmy to this inspirational story.

Need some recipe ideas for this week: Last night, I was scrolling before I went to bed and found @jenneatsgoood. Her collection of one-pan recipes or ideas for sheet-pan dinners is awesome! I’m going to make some next week and will report back. If you can’t wait for that feedback, here is everything I made for dinner last week.

Let’s all have a great week!

Thanks for the Coco on Tik tok tip. I’m hooked. She’s absolutely adorable! Makes me miss my mom so much. She would have been great at that too. Wish I could have had that fun with her!🩷
